用英语表示“有趣”时，究竟该使用fun，还是使用funny？

相信大部分英语学习者，正在或曾经为这两个英语单词的用法而困惑。

Fun

Fun是不可数名词，含义为：“乐趣；快乐；享受（pleasure and enjoyment）”。

例如：

  1. We had such fun together.
  2. It was fun to go to the beach with Rita’s family.
  3. I hope you have fun!

然而，在非正式的英语口语中，我们也会 将fun作为形容词 使用。

例如：

  • We did a lot of fun activities in groups and individually to learn, have a fun time, and to get to know each other better.

Funny

Funny是一个形容词，含义为“滑稽的；有趣的（amusing or causing laughter）”

  1. Do you know any funny jokes? 你知道什么有趣的笑话吗？
  2. I’ve never found Charlie Chaplin very funny. 我从来都不觉得查理‧卓别林很滑稽。
  3. It’s a really funny film. 这真是场滑稽的电影。

然而，funny还有另外一层含义，即“奇怪的，古怪的；难以解释的，难以理解的”

  1. The washing machine is making a funny noise again. 洗衣机又发出奇怪的声响了。
  2. He’s got some funny ideas about how to bring up children. 他在抚养孩子方面有些奇思妙想。
  3. That’s funny – I’m sure I left my keys here. 真奇怪，我确信是把钥匙放在这儿了。
  4. A funny thing happened to me on the way to the crematorium. 我在去火葬场的路上遇到一件怪事。

典型错误

我们永远也不会使用 funny 来表示“有趣、乐趣、快乐”

例如：

The week I stayed in your country was really funny and I found the city where you live very interesting and beautiful. （funny在此句用错，应该使用 fun）

错误: … in your country was really funny …
